Case Management Services

What is a case manager? A case manager gives you employment support to help you identify your barriers and assist you in developing and committing to a plan to find employment. We also help you with resumes, cover letters, job search techniques and interview preparation.

How do I meet with a case manager? Either call to set up an appointment or drop by our centre.  A case manager will gladly meet with you to discuss your options.

Employment Maintenance

Is it easy for you to find a job, but not to keep it?  You many benefit from employment maintenance.  Employment maintenance is part of the employment plan that you make with your Case Manager, and is the identified need for support after you have found a job.  Your Case Manager will be able to help you with any concerns or questions during the first 3-12 weeks of your new job, including questions around employee/employer rights, taxes, paperwork and more.  As well, Case Managers are able to provide you with transit tickets to get you to and from work until you receive your first pay cheque.  For more details about how you can benefit from employment maintenance, speak with your Case Manager.

Job Developer

What is a job developer? Youth Spot has a full-time job developer on staff.  The Job Developer works to create relationships with employers in the community.  When these employers are looking to hire, they let the Job Developer know.  Then Job Developer passes this opportunity along to Youth Spot clients who are a good fit.

How do I get involved with the Job Developer? Your Case Manager will work together with the Job Developer to stay on top of any vacancies that match your skills and interests.  Your Case Manager will then let you know about any relevant job openings.

Skills Link Programs

What is this? A skills link program is a Service Canada funded program designed to help you get into work by providing skills, knowledge, and work experience.

How long is it?  It is full-time, Monday- Friday and a program can last anywhere from 2-6 months.

Do I get paid? You get paid $8/hr and some programs have bonuses after completion.

What kind of programs are there?  Each program teaches you life and employability skills and offers a work experience portion.  Some programs are designed for specific fields such as construction, hospitality, retail, video production and arts.

How do I get in? You must get a referral from a case manager, so if this sounds interesting come down to our centre and talk to a case manager.
